In process testing the solid drive units from Induction Dynamics. Very interesting technology indeed. The drive unit is a small chrome cylinder (2'' dia.) that hooks up through a passive notch filter like any other speaker (positive and negative speaker wire). The cylinder is mounted on a solid surface, any will do, and sound radiates out from the unit.
Surfaces effect the sound quality tremendously. A large solid piece of wood was the winner for overall response/quality with sheetrock and glass a close second. Although the overall quality is not as good as "conventional" speakers keep in mind that these are invisible. There are no speakers to look at, no flush grills to paint and have rust in bathrooms, nothing for your guests to trip over, nothing to dust, nothing to see.
This product, like any specialized product, does give up some sound performance for their zero presence but not any more than other small speaker. My overall feeling is that this technology is an excellent choice for applications where it is needed- and there are many applications where it is needed. Total stealth, second homes, boats, security, covered patios, and conference rooms to name a few.

Brough Superior will be testing and reviewing a new product from Induction Dynamics called Solid Drive. This is a cutting edge technology that uses small motors to produce sound through any solid surface. The applications are almost endless, from completely invisible speakers buried in the walls to marine and conference room applications. Results from the testing will be posted in a few days.

Steady working

Working as usual on getting the BroughSuperiorLLC website up to snuff and promoting business. I have an appointment with long time customer this evening to reprogram his custom remote to work with his new BluRay DVD player. This is one of the advantages of custom remotes, future upgrades are easy to add on. I hope everyone is having a great week. Feel free to write with any comments or questions.

After working on the Brough Superior LLC website I certainly understand why people are paid full time to create and maintain websites. Brough Superior LLC home Theater

Hello Internet World,
I will be writing about the day to day details of running a custom home theater and audio business in the Metro Atlanta area. I have worked in the industry for eight years and saw the light late last year that the only way to bring to my customers what I really wanted was to do it myself.
Please share any stories, thoughts, and feelings on the topic. I have found many people to be quite dissapointed with their custom electronic experience. Because of my expertise and abilities, I have become somewhat of a "fixer" for many people who have spent good money but received poor service. I only wish I could have helped them sooner and prevented the headaches others have caused.
Although many details of running a business are as exciting as watching paint dry, my focus will be on the fun stuff like installs and problem solving. I hope everyone has a great weekend!
